BOLT-ON CLIMBING HOLDS:

No Frills here. These holds are pure function. Our goal was to create the most functional economical jug possible.

We wanted climbers of all ages to be able to climb without using climbing shoes, and without paying for extra materials. The result, Frogs:

  • How challenging are these grips?
Frogs are Comfy Jugs. They are great for setting easy routes for kids on vertical and slightly overhanging climbing walls. They are also great as intermediate kids holds on steep (45 degree for example) overhanging walls.

  • How many grips do I need?
Generally we recommend starting with 1 hold per 1.5 square feet. (About 21 holds per 4'x8' sheet of plywood)

5 Grips is the minimum needed for creating one route on a 4' x 6' wall. If you want to give the kids more options, and make more of the wall climb-able we recommend 10 to 20 grips.

  • Are there any age or weight restrictions?
Nope! These grips can be used whether you are 2, or 92 yrs old, 20 lbs or 320 lbs.

  • Climbing shoes are not required.

What is the difference between
Bolt-on holds and Screw-on holds?

http://www.threeballclimbing.com/what is the difference between bolt on and screw on climbing holds

Bolt-on holds generally have one anchor point. They require 3/8" socket-head bolts and the installation of 3/8" T-nuts in the back of the wall. Once the T-nuts are installed, fastening and removing the holds is extremely easy. All you need is a 5/16 hex key/wrench.

Bolt-ons are best if you intend to move the holds and change the routes several times a year.

Screw-on holds always have at least 2 anchor points. The pre-cast holes in each hold are 1/4" in diameter. We use 2" weather resistant Deck Mate screws to fasten them to the wall. You will need a power drill with a philips head bit to install and remove these holds.

Screw-ons are great for outdoor applications because they require almost zero maintainance to remain secure. If you do not intend to change hold positions and create new routes frequently, screw-ons are the way to go.
