At Three Ball Climbing our hollow back holds are not completely hollow.
High Quality holds with the proper support structure will not crack or
"blow out" as we call it, when fastened to a climbing wall. While they are more expensive to produce and require more material, this extra effort makes a huge difference.
The Non-Three Ball hold with the blow out could only endure being fastened to
the wall

a few times and is no longer usable. The lack of support behind the bolt-hole allowed the bolt to pass completely through the hold and has reduced it's life-span to only a few months.
Because of the proper support structure Three Ball hollow back holds will last for decades. This is why our warranty never expires, even if a climbing hold breaks 10 years from now, we'll replace it!
